Choose a Prosecco that suits you
Prosecco is a sparkling wine from Italy that is primarily known for its freshness, floral and fruity flavours, and balanced acidity.
Prosecco mainly comes from the renowned Veneto wine region and is usually made from the Glera grape. This grape provides typical aromas such as pear, apple, citrus and sometimes a floral note.
This makes this sparkling wine ideal as an aperitif. Prosecco is also surprisingly delicious with light dishes, tapas, or a cozy brunch.
How to choose a prosecco?
-
Brut: drier, crisp and fresh in taste, ideal as an aperitif or for making an Apérol Spritz
-
Extra Dry: a little softer on the palate and fruitier notes, ideal as an accessible bubbly for both aperitifs and brunch
-
Rosé: more of a fruity sparkling wine, elegant and extra festive, ideal as a welcome drink in summer or as a gift

The difference between prosecco, champagne, cava and crémant
Sparkling wine is the collective term for all effervescent wines. Prosecco is thus a type of sparkling wine, specifically from Italy, with its own rules of origin and typical fresh style.
Champagne comes from France and is often chosen for grander moments. Its style is generally more complex and refined, with aromas ranging from brioche to toasted notes, especially in more aged champagnes. This makes champagne popular for special occasions and as a gift, and it typically falls into a higher price segment.
Cava is the well-known sparkling wine from Spain. Compared to prosecco, cava often tastes drier and sometimes a bit more mature with a slight toasty accent, depending on the style. This makes cava excellent with tapas, at the table for dinner, or of course at a party. Price-wise, cava can range from sharply priced to premium.
Crémant is also French, but is usually more affordably priced than champagne. Its taste profile is often elegant, with a soft, fresh impression, making crémant an excellent aperitif or a gift when you want something festive without immediately reaching for champagne. It is therefore a great alternative with a strong balance between finesse and budget.
